Hundreds of colonies start at the same moment on the same map; in the end the most valuable one counts. The Rimionship is the community's biggest RimWorld event: free, no sign-up, played with the free mod Seed of the Month.

Never heard of the Rimionship?

Three answers are enough to start with. Below that, everything else follows in the order you actually need it.

What happens there?

Everyone starts on the same day with the same scenario, on the same map, which stays secret until then. The mod connects your game to our server: leaderboard, milestones and the casters' broadcast all run live while you play.

How long does it take?

You get eight hours of real playing time. Pausing, saving and continuing later is allowed. You may start over at any time. Only your current run is ever scored.

How do you win?

The overall ranking is decided by colony wealth: how much your colony is worth in the end. Alongside that there are milestones in several categories. Whoever collects the most points there wins that category.

    The tournament shows up in the main menu. The map downloads beforehand and is unlocked only at the starting shot. Then: „Play now!“.

How do you know everything is set up?

The mod tells you in the main menu: „Server connected“, „Mods OK“ and „This run will be scored.“ If it says „[unranked]“, something is wrong with your login, your mod list or your save.

Which mods are allowed?

The tournament server prescribes the list, and the mod list window in-game sorts your load order out afterwards. Here it is to read up on.

Overall ranking: colony wealth decides

Colony wealth is RimWorld's own wealth value for your colony: buildings, gear, supplies, colonists. Whoever has the highest at the end is on top.

Categories: milestone points crown the winner

Every tournament comes with tasks like „three parkas of excellent quality“ or „research X completed“. Each one you achieve scores points in its category. Whoever has the most points there wins that category.

If two participants end a category on the same number of points, colony wealth decides who ranks higher.

Once the tournament is running, the leaderboard fills up here live.

Publicly visible are place, display name, points and colony wealth. Nothing else.

Milestone points count per run: start over and they are back at zero. The same goes for colony wealth, which dies with the old colony.

What matters before you start

Everything in full is in the rulebook. These six points are the ones people actually trip over.

This is allowed

Pause, save, continue

You may interrupt your game at any time. On a manual save the mod sends you back to the main menu. The save stays scored, you simply load it again later.

Starting over is allowed

Lost your colony? Start a new run while the tournament is still running. Only the current run is scored; milestone points you already earned expire.

Privacy notice

This costs you the scoring

No reloading within a running run

Loading an older save to undo a raid is not allowed. The mod detects it and marks that save as unranked. It stays playable, but it no longer counts.

Only the prescribed mod list

The server prescribes mandatory and permitted mods. If a mandatory mod is missing or a forbidden one is active, your run is not scored. The mod list window in-game sorts that out for you.

No cheats, no exploits

Cheats, deliberate abuse of bugs, manipulated results and unsporting behaviour lead to a warning, loss of the result or exclusion. Known exploits are listed on Discord.

A server connection is required

Without a connection the mod transmits no data and your result is not scored. It shows the status permanently in the main menu.

On tournament day

Be there live, even without playing

The Rimionship is a spectator event. All day long there is commentary, camera work and collective suffering. You do not have to lose a colony of your own for it.

The same mod runs a monthly „Seed of the Month“. That is where you learn the mod and the procedure. What awaits you on Scylla on tournament day stays secret until then.

Songbattle playlist

During the tournament the Rimionship Songbattle music plays instead of the game's own, starting with the winning track. It can be switched off in the mod options.

FAQ

Frequent questions

Does taking part cost anything?

No. No entry fee, no starting fee. All you need is RimWorld and the free mod.

Do I have to register beforehand?

No, there is no registration form. You link your Twitch account once and play on tournament day. That is the participation.

Do I need the DLCs?

No, the base game is enough. Which mods are mandatory and which are permitted is prescribed by the tournament server, right in the game.

I am new to RimWorld. Is this for me?

Yes. A large part of the field does not play to win but to survive and to share the day. Taking part is worth it without any prospect of first place.

What happens if my colony is wiped out?

You can start a new run immediately while the tournament is still running. Your old colony wealth and your milestone points expire with it.

Can I stop in between and continue later?

Yes. Saving and pausing is explicitly allowed. Only reloading an older save within a running run is not.

Which of my data is public?

The leaderboard shows display name, place, points and colony wealth. Nothing else.

Do I have to stream?

No. The Twitch account is your login and your display name. If you do stream, the casters can put you on the broadcast. It is not a requirement.

Is there anything to win?

No prizes and no prize money. It is about your place in the leaderboard, about the shared day, and about the stories told on Discord afterwards.
